சென்னை ராயப்பேட்டையில் உள்ள யுட்லேன்ட் ஹோட்டல் (woodland hotel) ஒரு கன்னடருக்கு சொந்தமான 3 நட்சத்திர உணவு விடுதி. அந்த விடுதி அடையாளம் தெரியாத சிலரால் பெட்ரோல் குண்டுகளால் தாக்கப்பட்டது.
விடுதியின் கண்ணாடிகள் முழுவதும் அடித்து நொறுக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது..
“கர்நாடகாவில் தமிழர்கள் தொடர்ந்து தாக்கப்பட்டால் , இதே போல கன்னட வணிக நிறுவனங்கள் சூறையாடப்படும். இங்கேயும் கன்னடர்கள் வாழ்கிறார்கள்.. ஜாக்கிரதை !”
பின்னர் “கர்நாடகாவில் தமிழர்கள் தொடர்ந்து தாக்கப்பட்டால் ,இதே போல கன்னட வணிக நிறுவனங்கள் சூறையாடப்படும். இங்கேயும் கன்னடர்கள் வாழ்கிறார்கள்..ஜாக்கிரதை !” என்ற வாசகங்கள் அடங்கிய துண்டறிக்கைகளை வீசிச் சென்றனர்.
காவிரி நதிநீர் பிரச்சினையையொட்டி, கர்நாடகாவில் தமிழர்களின் வாகனங்களும், கடைகளும் தொடர்ச்சியாக கன்னட வெறியர்களால் தாக்கப்பட்டு வருவது தெரிந்ததே.
மேலும் நேற்று முன்தினம் ஒரு தமிழ் இளைஞர் தமிழர்களுக்கு ஆதரவாக முகநூலில் பதிவு செய்தார் என்ற காரணத்தால் அவரை கன்னட வெறியர்கள் சரமாரியாக தாக்கியும், மண்டியிட்டு நடுரோட்டில் மன்னிப்பும் கேட்க வைத்த காணொளி பரவியது. இது தமிழர்களை கொந்தொழிப்பில் ஆழ்த்தியது.
ஆக அதற்கு எதிர்ப்பு தெரிவிக்கும் விதமாக இச்சம்பவம் நடந்திருக்கும் எனக் கருதப்படுகிறது.
Petrol bombs hurled at New Woodlands Hotel in Mylapore; threat note to Kannadigas in TN
A day after a video of Tamil youth being assaulted by a group of boys in Karnataka went viral on social networking sites, petrol bombs were hurled at a Karnataka-based restaurant ‘New Woodlands Hotel’ situated in Mylapore during the wee hours of Monday.
Police said the attack happened at around 3.45 am when around ten members entered the hotel. They raised slogans against Karnataka and allegedly damaged the tables and broke the window panels in the hotel. The outlet is a Udupi-style vegetarian restaurant founded by Krishna Rao.
Hotel staff told the police that the men threw around six petrol bombs at the hotel. It is reported that at the time of the attack, there were about 15 security personnel at the hotel but no one attempted to stop the attackers out of fear.
The attackers also stuck a one page letter in the hotel claiming that if more Tamil’s were attacked in Karnataka, such incidents of hurling petrol bombs will continue to Karnataka based outlets here in Tamil Nadu.
Here is a translation of the threat note left at the hotel:
‘If Tamils are continued to be assaulted in Karnataka, Kannadiga work places here (in Tamil Nadu) will be attacked. Kannadigas live here too. Beware.’
The police who rushed to the spot following the complaint, surveyed the spot and conducted inquiries.
